Archiving and preservation

This page lists the current status of archiving and preservation arrangements. No archive, backup arrangement, preservation service, or third-party preservation membership is claimed unless it is currently active.

Available means the arrangement is already in place. Planned means the arrangement is intended, but not yet active.

Current status

  • Version retentionAvailableEvery version of every submitted file is retained in the submission record.
  • Nightly backupAvailableSubmission files and records are backed up every night to a separate system.
  • Dark archive depositPlannedA dark archive is a preservation copy separate from the public article page. Dark archive deposit is planned to begin with the first published article. It is not active yet.
  • Third-party preservation networkPlannedApplication to a third-party preservation network requires published content. No third-party preservation membership is claimed yet.
