AI generated marketing research
The inaugural issue of Accelerated Science Marketing welcomes research created with extensive or predominant use of generative AI. AI may help generate questions, develop theory, conduct analysis, write code and produce text. Authors must disclose how they used it. At least one verified human author must accept responsibility for the paper.
- AI use
- Encouraged at every stage. AI may play a central or predominant role.
- Judged on
- Originality, rigour, clarity and substantive importance.
- Decision
- Human editors decide. Automated assessment enables an initial editorial decision within one week.
- Fee
- US$125 standard, US$25 for a verified educational address. The applicable fee is charged when the paper is sent and is non-refundable. Waivers are available through the Fees and Waivers section and must be requested before payment.
A journal of Accelerated Science
Accelerated Science Marketing
The inaugural issue is accepting submissions.
Every paper submitted during the inaugural period is assessed against the same published standard. The first issue has no separate, reduced or provisional standard.
Aims and scope
The inaugural issue welcomes conceptual, narrative, theoretical and empirical research with clear value for marketing practitioners, educators or researchers.
Marketing is interpreted broadly. Suitable subjects include consumers, firms, markets, channels, pricing, brands and the methods used to study them.
Authors do not need to select a category during submission. The journal determines the appropriate placement from the content of the paper.
Every submission is judged primarily on the quality of its intellectual contribution. The central criteria are originality, rigour, clarity and substantive importance. The journal does not judge a paper by the proportion of work completed by a person rather than an AI system.
The same requirements apply to every submission. Claims must be supported, sources must be verifiable, calculations must be correct, and methods must be reported clearly enough for another researcher to repeat the work.
Conditions of submission
These conditions apply to the inaugural issue. We state them explicitly because several differ from conventional journal policies.
- Use of AI
- Authors may use AI at any stage and to any extent. This includes generating research questions, developing theory, conducting analysis, writing code and producing text. A language model may produce the entire manuscript. The assessment neither penalises nor rewards the use of AI. It judges the quality of the resulting research.
- Disclosure
- Authors must include a short statement identifying the AI systems used and explaining what each system contributed. The journal publishes this statement with the article. Using AI is permitted. Concealing its use is a breach of the conditions of submission.
- Human accountability
- Every submission must have at least one human author. This person must hold the submitting account and verify the email address associated with it. The submitting author accepts responsibility for the paper, responds to editorial questions and completes the final acceptance process personally.
- Coauthors and names
- Authors may credit other people and may list an AI model as a contributor or coauthor. The author list is excluded from the assessment materials and does not influence the decision. Human authors may publish under their legal names, under pseudonyms or anonymously. The published record identifies pseudonymous or anonymous authorship. In every case, the journal privately verifies the accountable human author.
- Errors and corrections
- If a published paper contains a material error, the journal corrects or withdraws it. The public notice identifies the error and explains the action taken, regardless of whether a person or an AI system produced the affected material.
- Final acceptance
- A human account holder must personally approve publication. An AI agent or another automated system cannot complete the final acceptance step on the author's behalf.
How papers are assessed
Every paper undergoes three specialised automated assessments.
- Domain
- Does the paper understand its subject and make an original, important contribution?
- Method
- Do the evidence, analysis and research methods support the claims?
- Argument
- Is the reasoning coherent, clear and complete?
Before these assessments begin, the journal runs automated checks covering references, access to any required data and code, method reporting, statistical consistency and text integrity. A check that does not apply to a particular type of paper is marked as not applicable.
A named human editor examines the paper, the automated assessments and the results of the checks. The editor then makes the decision.
Because the preliminary work is automated, an initial editorial decision can be made within one week of submission. Automation informs the decision. It does not make or approve the decision.
A paper may be accepted, declined or returned for revision. Authors pay no additional fee when submitting a revision.
Every acceptance is signed by a named editor who accepts responsibility for the decision. When the article is published, its review record and editorial audit trail are published with it.
Fees
The submission fee is US$125, or US$25 for a verified educational address. The applicable fee is charged when the paper is sent.
The fee is payable by card. Fees are non-refundable.
The fee discourages spam, duplicate submissions and papers sent without serious preparation. The amount paid does not affect how a paper is assessed or how an editor decides.
Payment information is held separately from the assessment. Automated assessment systems and deciding editors do not receive it.
Waivers are available through the Fees and Waivers section. A waiver must be requested before payment; once the fee is paid a waiver cannot be applied, because fees are non-refundable.
How to submit
- Create an accountEnter an email address and create a password. The journal verifies the address with a code and sends the editorial decision to it.
- Upload the manuscriptLaTeX source is preferred because the journal can read it directly. PDF files are also accepted, although mathematical notation can be recovered only as accurately as the file permits.
- Pay the submission feeThe submission fee is US$125, or US$25 for a verified educational address. The applicable fee is charged when the paper is sent, by card. Fees are non-refundable. Waivers are available through the Fees and Waivers section and must be requested before payment.
A note from the editor
Generative AI allows researchers to test more ideas, pursue more demanding questions and undertake forms of analysis that once required far more time or resources. Those possibilities deserve serious scholarly examination. This journal asks authors to be transparent about how they worked, rigorous about what they claim and accountable for what they publish. We judge the resulting scholarship by its originality, reasoning, evidence and importance. We do not judge it by whether every sentence began with a human writer. I would be very pleased to consider your work.
