Institution

Editorial governance

How decisions are kept independent of ownership, who answers for them, and how the board is built.

Independence

Ownership of Accelerated Science has no bearing on editorial decisions. Assessment considers the manuscript alone. No person involved in a decision is remunerated according to its outcome.

Who signs a decision

Acceptances are signed by a named editor, who is accountable for the decision. All other outcomes follow a stated rule, which is named to the author.

The board

Editorial seats are defined by subject area, drawn from the sub-core disciplines a journal already publishes. A seat stays marked vacant until the person who will hold it has agreed in writing. No name appears on this site before then.

Conflicts

An editor who has co-authored with a submitting author in the last four years, or who shares an institution with them, does not handle the paper. Any conflict that is declared is recorded on the decision.

How machine work is labelled

Assessments produced by a model are machine-generated and are labelled as such wherever they appear.

Complaints and appeals

Decisions may be appealed on factual grounds. Complaints regarding conduct or process may be made by any person, including those who have not submitted to the journals. In both cases the response is prepared by a person with no involvement in the original decision.

Ownership

Accelerated Science is independently owned and holds no university affiliation. No institutional endorsement is held or claimed. The publishing entity is named on the contact page.
